Stock up 281% in the past 12 months, thanks to the strong results but also more recently due to its ongoing rivalry with Google. Baidu shares, and his fortune, jumped a third after Google said in January it might pull out of China. Before cofounding Baidu in 2000, Li worked as a staff engineer in Silicon Valley for Infoseek, a pioneer in the Internet search engine industry. Li sits on board of New York-listed New Oriental Education & Technology, which provides educational services in China. Wealth estimate includes shares held by wife, Melissa Ma.
