Massacre in Calicut
12/16/1500 AD attacked
A surprise attack on Cabral's warehouse by (300 to 1000) Muslim Arabs and Hindu Indians left 50 Portuguese dead. When an apology was not forthcoming within 24 hours, retribution was fierce.
The Portuguese seized 10 Arab ships anchored in the harbor, and killed about 600 of their crew and confiscated their cargo before torching them.
