Jöns Jacob Berzelius
1779 AD - 1848 AD
One of the founders of modern chemistry, he is noted for his determination of atomic weights, the discovery of cerium and selenium, and being the first to isolate silicon and thorium.
His experiments led to a more complete understanding of the principles of stoichiometry.
