- Prince Vladimir-Rasate dethroned and replaced by his brother Simeon I
- The capital of Bulgaria moved from Pliska to Preslav. A symbolic act of breaking with paganism
- Byzantine clergy banished from the country and replaced with Bulgarian clerics
- Old Bulgarian language to replaceGreek in liturgy. Thus it became the official language of Bulgaria
