Mortimer hanged for treason

Just days before his eighteenth birthday, the king seized his mother, Isabella, and her lover Mortimer from inside Nottingham Castle.
Ignoring Isabella's plea, "Fair son, have pity on the gentle Mortimer," he was taken to the Tower, accused of assuming royal power.
Then Mortimer was condemned without trial and hanged at Tyburn and his estates forfeited to the crown
